About Me
Hello! My name is Gabrielle Koknat and I am an undergraduate at the University of Cincinnati studying physics and math in the McMicken College of Arts and Sciences. After undergrad, I plan to work towards
a doctorate degree in physics to pursue a career in post-secondary education. I'm most interested in condensed matter research, specifically relating to nanoelectronics and quantum information.
I spent my childhood in Cincinnati, and then high school in Columbus with my family of six. In moving back to Cincinnati, I've rediscovered my love for the city and developed a passion for supporting and improving my community here. I have gotten involved in Clean Up Cincy, which is a volunteer organization that works to clean the city and connect students with the community outside of campus. As a Crew Leader, I've lead teams of students around to pick up trash in the Cincinnati area.
Most importantly, I want to impact my community by improving education. I get to explore my passion for teaching and education everyday through my work as a tutor at the university's Math and Science Support Center. I also work as a physics teaching assistant, where I teach physics lab and lead recitation for engineering majors at UC. In addition to this, I've been able to connect with the students at CPS through volunteering at Hughes High School and performing with the Traveling Physics Show out of the physics department. I hope to increase my involvement in outreach and education throughout my career at UC.
I'm looking forward to the rest of my time in Cincinnati. I hope you enjoy my learning portfolio!
